MDCAT 2019
200 questions, every answer verified. Free to try.
When the official key is wrong, we say so.
Every answer here is checked against the official key published for that paper. Where the key and the subject disagree — and on some papers that happens dozens of times — we mark the answer the science supports, and the explanation on that question says plainly that we have departed from the key and why. One paper's published key turned out to belong to a different paper code entirely.
Where a question cannot be resolved at all — an unreadable scan, a missing diagram, an option the original paper never printed — we switch it off rather than guess, and the paper's own note tells you how many are missing and which. That is why a paper can read 218 of 220 instead of a tidy 100%: the number is the truth about the paper, not a target.

- Q1 · MDCAT 2019 · Bioenergetics
In chemiosmosis the proton (H+) pumps moves from ____.
- A.Stroma to Lumen
- B.Stroma to cytoplasm
- C.Lumen to Stroma
- D.Cytoplasm to Stroma
Show answer
Answer: A. Stroma to Lumen — The H+ pump of the light reactions actively pumps protons from the stroma into the thylakoid lumen, building the gradient ATP synthase later uses.
- Q2 · MDCAT 2019 · Alkyl Halides
Which product is obtained by the hydrolysis of 1- chlorobutane with the aqueous sodium hydroxide?
- A.1-butanol
- B.1- butene
- C.Butanone
- D.1- butanal
Show answer
Answer: A. 1-butanol — 1-chlorobutane hydrolyzed with aqueous NaOH gives 1-butanol via nucleophilic substitution (OH- replaces Cl-).
- Q3 · MDCAT 2019 · Nuclear Physics
Heavy nucleus of atoms go through fission so that they can:
- A.absorb high amount of energy
- B.absorb low amount of energy
- C.increase their binding energy per nucleon
- D.reduce their binding energy per nucleon
Show answer
Answer: C. increase their binding energy per nucleon — Heavy nuclei split (fission) because the resulting fragments have higher binding energy per nucleon, releasing energy.
