MDCAT 2014
214 questions, every answer verified. Free to try.
ℹ️ 214 of 220 questions available; Q25, Q40, Q49, Q53, Q68 and Q112 are withheld because none (or more than one) of their printed options is correct. Option letters match the printed paper. Where the old UHS key contradicts clear science the correct answer is used and explained.
When the official key is wrong, we say so.
Every answer here is checked against the official key published for that paper. Where the key and the subject disagree — and on some papers that happens dozens of times — we mark the answer the science supports, and the explanation on that question says plainly that we have departed from the key and why. One paper's published key turned out to belong to a different paper code entirely.
Where a question cannot be resolved at all — an unreadable scan, a missing diagram, an option the original paper never printed — we switch it off rather than guess, and the paper's own note tells you how many are missing and which. That is why a paper can read 218 of 220 instead of a tidy 100%: the number is the truth about the paper, not a target.

- Q1 · MDCAT 2014 · Electrostatics
The formula for electric field strength is 'E = F/Q', where E is electric field strength and F is force and Q is charge. Which one of the following options gives the correct base units for electric field strength?
- A.kgms⁻³A⁻¹
- B.kgs⁻²A⁻³
- C.kg²m⁻²s⁻³A
- D.ms⁻¹A⁻³
Show answer
Answer: A. kgms⁻³A⁻¹ — E = F/Q; substituting F's units (kg·m·s⁻²) over Q's units (A·s) gives kg·m·s⁻³·A⁻¹.
- Q2 · MDCAT 2014 · Thermochemistry
A polymer of empirical formula CH₂ has molar mass of 28000 g mol⁻¹. Its molecular formula will be
- A.100 times that of its empirical formula
- B.200 times that of its empirical formula
- C.500 times that of its empirical formula
- D.2000 times that of its empirical formula
Show answer
Answer: D. 2000 times that of its empirical formula — Molecular mass ÷ empirical mass = 28000 ÷ 14 = 2000, so the molecular formula is 2000 times the empirical formula.
- Q3 · MDCAT 2014 · Formal and Lexical Aspect of Language
It is our national duty to ________________ our vote in the general election.
- A.Throw
- B.Cast
- C.Drop
- D.Refuse
Show answer
