MDCAT 2023
195 questions, every answer verified. Free to try.
ℹ️ This paper has 195 of the original 200 questions. 5 questions (Q1, Q64, Q176, Q189, Q190 in the original paper) were not recoverable from our source material and are not included.
When the official key is wrong, we say so.
Every answer here is checked against the official key published for that paper. Where the key and the subject disagree — and on some papers that happens dozens of times — we mark the answer the science supports, and the explanation on that question says plainly that we have departed from the key and why. One paper's published key turned out to belong to a different paper code entirely.
Where a question cannot be resolved at all — an unreadable scan, a missing diagram, an option the original paper never printed — we switch it off rather than guess, and the paper's own note tells you how many are missing and which. That is why a paper can read 218 of 220 instead of a tidy 100%: the number is the truth about the paper, not a target.

- Q1 · MDCAT 2023 · Evolution
According to evolutionary studies, prokaryotes may have arisen around:
- A.2.5 billion years ago
- B.3.5 billion years ago
- C.4.5 billion years ago
- D.5.5 billion years ago
Show answer
Answer: B. 3.5 billion years ago — Prokaryotes are estimated to have arisen around 3.5 billion years ago, based on the oldest fossil stromatolites and microfossils.
- Q2 · MDCAT 2023 · Transition Elements
Which of the following transition metals shows 3d⁵ configuration in its +2 oxidation state?
- A.Cu²⁺
- B.Fe²⁺
- C.Mn²⁺
- D.Zn²⁺
Show answer
Answer: C. Mn²⁺ — Mn²⁺ has the 3d⁵ configuration among these +2 transition metal ions.
- Q3 · MDCAT 2023 · Current Electricity
The following formula can be used to determine the resistance of a length of conductor. R = ρl/A. In the formula, the symbol ρ stands for the:
- A.Cross-sectional area of the conductor in m²
- B.Product of the length of the conductor in meters
- C.Resistivity of the material in units of ohm-meters
- D.Resistance of the conductor in units of ohms per meter
Show answer
Answer: C. Resistivity of the material in units of ohm-meters — In R = ρL/A, the symbol ρ (rho) represents the resistivity of the material, measured in ohm-meters.
