How the UET aggregate is calculated
Aggregate = (ECAT marks ÷ 400 × 33) + (FSc Part-I (First Year) % × 0.5) + (Matric / SSC % × 0.17)
Worked example: Matric 1000/1100 (90.91%), FSc Part-I (First Year) 480/550 (87.27%) and 280/400 in ECAT:
- Matric / SSC × 17% = 15.455
- FSc Part-I (First Year) × 50% = 43.636
- ECAT × 33% = 23.100
Total: 82.191%. Every ECAT mark is worth 0.083 aggregate points, so ECAT is still the part you can move the most.
UET aggregate FAQs
What is the UET merit formula?
For FSc students, UET Lahore's own merit calculator uses Matric 17%, First Year (FSc Part-I) 50% and ECAT 33%. DAE, A Level and B Tech applicants have different splits.
Why does UET use FSc Part-I and not my full FSc marks?
UET's admissions FAQ says merit is calculated on First Year (Part-I) marks together with the ECAT score. You still need the full Intermediate qualification with at least 60% for engineering or 50% for computing.
How is the ECAT score counted?
ECAT has 100 MCQs and each correct answer is worth 4 marks, so the paper is out of 400. There is no negative marking. Your score out of 400 is scaled to its 33% share.
What is the minimum aggregate for UET?
UET's FAQ says applicants need an aggregate of at least 50% to be considered. Closing merit is much higher for popular programmes and changes with every merit list.
Is there a passing mark in ECAT?
No. UET says there is no passing threshold for any programme and no negative marking. Your ECAT score only matters through its 33% share of the aggregate.
