UET Merit Formula: How Your ECAT Aggregate Is Calculated
UET Lahore ranks FSc students on Matric 17%, First Year (Part-I) 50% and ECAT 33%. Here's the formula from UET's own calculator, a worked example and the ECAT score your target needs.

For FSc students, UET's aggregate is Matric 17% + First Year (FSc Part-I) 50% + ECAT 33%.
These weights come from UET's own merit calculator on admission.uet.edu.pk for Fall 2026.
Quick answer
- Matric: 17%
- FSc Part-I (First Year): 50%
- ECAT: 33%, with ECAT out of 400
- Minimum aggregate to be considered: 50%
- Non-ECAT programmes: Matric 25% + First Year 75%
The formula
Aggregate = (Matric marks ÷ total × 17) + (Part-I marks ÷ total × 50) + (ECAT score ÷ 400 × 33)
UET's FAQ is clear that merit uses your First Year marks, not your full FSc total. You still need the complete Intermediate qualification with the minimum percentage: 60% for engineering, 50% for computing.
A worked example
| Part | Working | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Matric | 1000 ÷ 1100 × 17 | 15.45 |
| FSc Part-I | 480 ÷ 550 × 50 | 43.64 |
| ECAT | 280 ÷ 400 × 33 | 23.10 |
| Aggregate | 82.19 |

Other education tracks
| Track | How UET splits merit |
|---|---|
| FSc / Intermediate | Matric 17%, First Year 50%, ECAT 33% |
| DAE | First Year 33.5%, Second Year 33.5%, ECAT 33% |
| A Level | O Level 67%, ECAT 33% |
What closing merit looks like
UET publishes closing merit for every merit list, campus, programme and category. In Fall 2026's Merit List No. 12 (a late waiting-queue list), the closing aggregates at the Main Campus included:
- Electrical Engineering, A1 morning: 88.90
- Civil Engineering, A1 morning: 85.01
Faisalabad Campus Electrical Engineering (A1) closed at 76.86. These numbers change with every list and every year, so treat them as a rough guide, not a target.
Why ECAT is where you can still move
By the time you apply, your Matric and Part-I marks are fixed. ECAT is the one part you can still change.
Every 10 extra ECAT marks (two or three more correct answers) adds 0.83 to your aggregate. Getting 20 more questions right adds 6.6 points, which is often the difference between campuses.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the UET merit formula?
For FSc students, UET's own merit calculator uses Matric 17%, First Year (FSc Part-I) 50% and ECAT 33%, with ECAT out of 400. Non-ECAT programmes use Matric 25% and First Year 75%.
How do I calculate my UET aggregate?
Divide your Matric marks by the total and multiply by 17, divide your Part-I marks by the total and multiply by 50, then divide your ECAT score by 400 and multiply by 33. For example, 1000/1100, 480/550 and 280/400 give 82.19.
Does UET use FSc Part-I or full FSc marks?
Part-I. UET's FAQ says merit is calculated on First Year (Part-I) marks with the ECAT score, but you still need the full Intermediate qualification with at least 60% for engineering or 50% for computing.
What is the minimum aggregate for UET?
UET says applicants need at least a 50% aggregate to be considered. Closing merit for popular programmes is much higher and changes with every merit list.
