How to check your result
- Go to etc.hec.gov.pk. Type the address yourself.
- Log in with the email and password you registered with.
- Open the test section and select the LAT.
HEC publishes results only on its own portal. Ignore sites asking for your CNIC and password.
What the LAT is
The LAT is HEC's entry test for the five-year LLB. You need to pass it to join an LLB at any university recognised by HEC and the Pakistan Bar Council.
You can take it once you've finished Intermediate, or while you're waiting for your result.
The paper (100 marks):
- MCQs in English, general knowledge, Islamic studies, Pakistan studies, Urdu and basic Maths
- An essay
- A personal statement
Passed? What now
Passing makes you eligible. It doesn't get you a seat. Each law college sets its own merit, and many add their own test or interview.
Start applying now, as LLB intakes for the current session are under way.
Didn't pass?
HEC runs the LAT several times a year. Its 2026 schedule lists one more sitting:
| Final LAT of 2026 | |
|---|---|
| Registration closes | 20 October 2026 |
| Roll number slips | 6 November 2026 |
| Test | 15 November 2026 |
| Result | 24 December 2026 |
These dates are from HEC's 2026 LAT schedule as reported in March. HEC often extends registration, so check the ETC portal before you plan around them.
Fix your weakest part:
- The essay is where most marks slip. Write one timed essay a week and get someone to mark it.
- English and GK need daily reading, such as a newspaper editorial.
- Basic Maths is quick marks if you practise percentages, ratios and averages.
